My early professional experience includes working with terminally ill children, child and family trauma assessment, chaplains programs, industrial chaplains programs, and employee assistance programs. I have consulted major companies in business and Industry management training, employee selection, executive development, and crisis intervention.

I served on the advisory board for a mental health hospital, developed pain management programs, and the psychological component of bariatric programs for three Georgia Hospitals. Certified in drug and alcohol treatment, I was an executive director of an out-patient drug and alcohol program in Dallas, Texas. I have served as an expert witness in multiple court settings and served as the Ethics Chairman for the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia.

I was licensed as a marriage and family therapist while being supervised by Dr. Harville Hendrix, author of Getting the Love You Want, founder of the Imago Therapy, and Oprah’s favorite therapist. More recently my training has continued in neuroscience, neuropsychotherapy, integrative psychotherapy, brain mapping and neurofeedback.

In addition to my private practice, I am privileged to serve as the Executive Director of the American College of Psychotherapy.

You can get the most out of our time together if you understand how counseling works and are informed about how I practice. This is an introduction only, and you may feel free to ask questions throughout the time we work together. In counseling I approach clients from an integrative perspective, meaning the application of the brain – body relationship, our beliefs and values, our interpersonal style, our psychosocial / psychological perspectives, and their impact on our behavior. I believe as whole persons, we have physical, psychological, social and spiritual dimensions of our life that significantly impact the quality of our life and healing. I incorporate a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment systems including; DBT, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Client Centered Therapy, Imago Therapy, Cognitive Emotional Therapy, Brain Based or Mindfulness Therapy and Family Systems Therapy, as appropriate. Other counseling approaches may be used depending on the individual or situation.
